IT Home reported on October 28, citing reports from Yicai and Sina Auto, that Gu Jie, vice president of XPeng Group, said at today's SAECCE annual conference that the solid-state batteries for XPeng's IRON robot have rolled off the production line in small-batch mass production, and that the robot is currently at a stage before SOP (standard operating procedures).
Gu Jie said XPeng has launched the first solid-state battery specifically for robots. Constrained by the robot's space requirements, XPeng's robot solid-state battery uses a high-energy-density design and redefined battery standards. It also features a design that prevents the spread of thermal runaway and can withstand tests including impact and needle penetration.
On September 8, XPeng's robot production line officially began operation. The world's first advanced general-purpose humanoid robot completed automated final assembly and independently walked off the production line to make its debut, marking a key leap for XPeng's robot from R&D and trial production to production-line manufacturing and an important step toward large-scale mass production.
Under the plan, XPeng will achieve mass production of humanoid robots by the end of 2026 and begin deliveries in the first half of 2027. They will first be deployed in commercial settings such as stores and shopping malls, then gradually expand to industrial and household settings.
On August 24, XPeng's robotics business completed its first funding round of more than US$900 million (IT Home note: approximately RMB 6.013 billion at the current exchange rate), giving it a post-money valuation of more than US$6.3 billion (approximately RMB 42.091 billion at the current exchange rate) and setting a record for a single round of private equity financing in China's embodied intelligence industry.
