FT reports that Anthropic bought 1.7 GW of Caterpillar gas generators, taking over earlier orders placed by OnePWR Solutions along with the engineering and construction work to install them. Because the orders predate a price surge, the engines are due to arrive over the next two years. xAI bought $2 billion of mobile gas turbines this year, while Alphabet acquired energy developer Intersect in late 2025.
