IT Home reported on November 8 that JD Logistics announced today that, during the 9th China International Import Expo, the Carbon Inclusion Methodology for Low-Carbon Transportation of E-Commerce Parcels, jointly developed by JD Logistics, Bureau Veritas Group and the Shanghai Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Center, formally passed an expert review organized by relevant Shanghai authorities and was recommended as a Category I methodology. This marks the implementation in Shanghai of the first carbon inclusion methodology for an e-commerce setting. Next, “Jing Tan Hui” will be formally integrated into Shanghai’s carbon inclusion system and the personal carbon accounts serving nearly 25 million Shanghai residents, allowing low-carbon consumption to be recorded and rewarded.
According to the introduction, emissions reductions from parcel delivery used to be a vaguely accounted-for item within the supply chain. Now, “Jing Tan Hui” will calculate the emissions reduction for each JD parcel delivery order clearly and accurately and record it in the JD consumer carbon account. When consumers buy products marked “emissions reduction” in the JD app, the emissions reductions generated during green transportation can be credited to their personal carbon accounts. Consumers can also redeem benefits such as coupons, physical gifts and digital renminbi.
IT Home noted that JD consumer carbon accounts are currently available in Shanghai and Beijing and cover all products sold directly by JD. For consumers, everyday green purchases can now be recorded and exchanged for rewards; for businesses, supply chain decarbonization now has a traceable and reusable basis for accounting.
On the technical side, “Jing Tan Hui” deeply integrates AI, supply chain carbon accounting and blockchain technology to calculate carbon emissions accurately at the product level. On the product side, Jing Tan Hui provides carbon footprint accounting at the SKU level, with accuracy consistently between 99.5% and 99.8%. The platform can process carbon data for tens of billions of logistics units annually, serves more than 1,400 brands worldwide and has opened more than 10,000 corporate carbon accounts.
