Anthropic is negotiating to lease a hyperscale data centre campus near Edmonton powered by a dedicated 920MW gas plant. Calgary-based Beacon Data Centers is developing the Sturgeon County site, which its filings show will hold 4 data halls for AI computing. Alberta’s Utilities Commission approved that plant on October 23, with construction due this quarter and service in late 2027. That would give the campus about double the power of the 420MW Nova Scotia site, where Anthropic signed a 20-year lease.
