IT Home reported on October 26 that SpaceX today, local time, formally announced a financing arrangement with alternative asset management giant Apollo.
Under a binding commitment between the two parties, SpaceX and Apollo will sign a master finance lease agreement for GPUs and related equipment worth approximately $40 billion (IT Home note: approximately 267.098 billion yuan at the current exchange rate). The agreement is expected to be signed in 2026.
The largest GPU financing agreement to date will provide next-generation NVIDIA Vera Rubin chips for SpaceX’s ground-based computing buildout. The lease is expected to commence after the GPUs and related equipment are delivered in the first half of 2027.
SpaceX Chief Financial Officer Bret Johnsen said:
SpaceX is committed to deploying the world’s largest computing infrastructure. As demand for computing power continues to accelerate, we have found that the payback period for investments in system-integrated infrastructure has shortened to less than one year.
This lease agreement not only diversifies our sources of capital but also addresses a substantial portion of the funding needed to carry out our growth plans. We are working to bring more computing capacity online at record speed to support Grok services for businesses and consumers and to serve existing and future cloud services customers.
