Google now lets anyone 18 or older publish an AI Studio-built Android app to the Play Store without a paid developer account.
The apps stay privately listed, so they serve only the person who made them and never appear in Play Store search or recommendations.
Until now, the route from AI Studio to Play required a Google Play Developer account with a one-time $25 registration fee and a completed Play Console profile, which then led to an internal testing track limited to 100 testers.
Google also normally reviews new submissions over several days and takes a commission on paid in-app digital services, while Apple charges $99 a year for its developer program.
AI Studio builds these apps from a text description, with an agent that generates a complete Kotlin and Jetpack Compose project, a capability Google added at its I/O conference in May.
