IT Home reported on October 30 that tech outlet Windows Central published a post yesterday (October 29) saying Microsoft introduced a new “accelerated app launch” feature in this month’s optional update KB5127936 for Windows 11 25H2/26H2. When it is later opened through the Start menu, taskbar, or a supported link, Windows can locate it more quickly, reducing response time.
The Microsoft Edge browser is the first to benefit from the feature. Under heavy multitasking workloads, Edge can launch up to 33% faster, with an average improvement of about 15%. Microsoft is also exploring using the mechanism to open PDF files more quickly.
Notably, Microsoft has not reserved this capability exclusively for Edge. The company has contributed the relevant code to the open-source Chromium project, meaning Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome, Brave, and Vivaldi may also support accelerated launch in the future.
