The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is driving three areas of “accelerated” progress in the embodied intelligence industry, represented by humanoid robots.
First, the industry is rapidly expanding in scale. In the first half of this year, China had more than 400 humanoid robot models, with production exceeding 40,000 units. Production is expected to surpass 100,000 units for the full year.
Second, innovation capabilities are advancing rapidly. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is bringing together strengths from industry, academia and research to tackle a range of key technologies, including motion control, simulation and tactile sensing for humanoid robots and embodied intelligence, driving continued improvements in product performance.
Third, industrial applications are being deployed more quickly. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is carrying out a special initiative for real-world training of humanoid robots and embodied intelligence, promoting faster testing and deployment of related products in more than 300 priority scenarios, including warehousing and logistics, food service and retail, and household services. The robots’ ability to perform tasks and adapt to different settings continues to improve.
IT Home noted that, according to an IDC report, both supply and demand in the humanoid robot industry are undergoing positive changes as the market grows rapidly. On one hand, exploration of industrial, logistics and other applications continues to accelerate, and leading manufacturers are steadily expanding production capacity. On the other, small humanoid robots aimed at individual consumers are beginning to appear in the Chinese market, and the household and personal markets are gradually becoming new areas of potential growth.
In addition, large embodied intelligence models are evolving rapidly, and robots’ ability to understand complex environments, make decisions and carry out tasks continues to improve, providing technical support for expanding humanoid robots into more applications.
