IT Home reported on November 6, citing a report today by technology outlet Neowin, that home rental platform Airbnb revealed in its third-quarter fiscal 2026 report that it is developing a new AI agent, planned for release in 2027, to help users plan trips.
Airbnb said: “Rather than using a traditional chat window, our agent draws on a library of hundreds of travel-specific interface elements, including maps, photos, comparison information, calendars, and itineraries, which can be assembled in real time according to users’ needs. It will help guests explore different options, make decisions with their travel companions, and ultimately book directly on Airbnb.”
However, it remains unclear what distinctive advantages Airbnb’s agent will offer. Airbnb called AI the best opportunity in the company’s development and particularly emphasized the role of its AI assistant in handling customer support issues. The company said that about 40% of customer support requests in the third quarter were resolved without human customer service intervention.
