Mistral’s default Free mode supports API evaluation and prototyping. Requests, throughput and monthly usage are limited across an organization’s workspaces; chat and coding plan budgets are separate.

Who is eligible
- Use an organization account in Free mode in the official Mistral console.
How to claim
- Create an API key in Free mode in the official console.
- Review current model and organization limits and usage on the admin Limits page.
Usage & billing conditions
- Request rate, tokens per minute and tokens per month all apply; exceeding them causes rate limiting.
- Enabling pay as you go introduces usage charges; a credit top-up alone does not raise limits.
- Limits can change when switching models; developer API limits and Vibe plan budgets are separate.
Validity
Free mode follows the organization’s and model’s current request, minute and monthly usage windows.
Validity follows your signup date or program rules; there is no common claim deadline.
