Google presents cuff-free hypertension screening research using consumer smartwatches

Google introduced AI-PPG-ACC-HTN, which uses physiological features collected over multiple days by consumer smartwatches to identify signs of persistent hypertension without cuff calibration. In a multicenter clinical trial of 196 participants, initial screening achieved 65.8% sensitivity and 90.0% specificity against 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring; the screening result is not a diagnosis.
