Roman Space Telescope’s main camera measures optical error about 30% below design limit after in-orbit calibration

NASA reported that in-orbit testing measured optical error of 63 nanometers RMS for the Roman Space Telescope’s Wide Field Instrument, below its design limit of about 90 nanometers RMS. Sharper images could help scientists measure the shapes, positions and brightness of distant galaxies to study dark matter, dark energy and cosmic evolution.
