RTX Spark brings NVIDIA’s AI software stack to Windows laptops and compact desktops for running AI models locally. Laptop preorders are open, with availability set for October 16; compact desktops are due to go on sale in November. Microsoft also announced general availability of Microsoft Execution Containers, which let AI agents run in the background on Windows.
At a launch event, Jensen Huang said Nvidia had tested the performance and compatibility of more than 1,200 apps on RTX Spark. He said the platform can run DirectX, OpenGL and CUDA apps on the device, and described the PC as a tool for work and a personal assistant. Those compatibility statements are Nvidia's claims.
A week after an Anthropic researcher’s doomsday warning rattled the AI world, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei outlined a plan to “pace the frontier” of AI development. The proposal leans on independent safety evaluators and coordination between AI labs in democratic countries, and it’s already picked up some industry support, along with some pointed pushback from Nvidia’s Jensen Huang.
